Triangles question

Hi, could someone help with this please? I tried working it out on the assumption that the relationship between ST and QR would be the same as the relationship between PS and PQ, but I keep getting x=2 which makes QR=5cm, which is not even one of the options

What ratio did you acutally use. I get one of the options

I said that y was what you multiply by to get from ST to QR, and did this:

Your quadratic factorisinng is wrong. The product is not -3, you need to use the formula.

The ratios are right, but its simpler to just use similar triangles so
base ratio = side ratio
and you can simply it write down.
