How much do people write for the Oxford HAT

There's only an hour, and it is suggested that you spend a third of the time planning so I'm just interested to see how much I'm expected to write. I'm slightly worried as I can't type very quickly so I feel like I'm at a bit of a disadvantage in this respect.

Hi, my son is sitting the HAT, so I showed him your question. For context, he has a mentor from Zero Gravity (recent Oxford Politics & History graduate) who has been giving him test HATs to practice for several weeks. My son says he's been writing anything from around 500 to 1000 words and his mentor has been happy with that. His advice is to not worry too much about the word count, as there's no minimum/maximum, they will be looking at how you interpret the source material & what your ideas are around it far more than how much you write.
