MA Mass Communication in Liverpool John Moores University

As an international student considering the MA Mass Communication Program at Liverpool John Moores University, I am keen to ensure a holistic and enriching academic experience. Could anyone please provide insights into the university's reputation for delivering quality education in the Mass Communication field, the level of support offered to international students, the availability of part-time job opportunities, and the overall accommodation options for students?

Hi @Adhi123,

We're so pleased you're considering studying with us. Let me

The MA Mass Communications is a broad course that explores communications across a range of media and institutions. It covers aspects such as broadcast and entertainment media, podcasting, social media, arts and cultural organisations among other things. Its unique selling points include: the way it examines professional practice and embeds employability; the way it develops students as independent researchers and its focus on topic problem solving.

In terms of quality, the course recently received a 100% overall satisfaction rate on the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey, with 100% satisfaction in relation to aspects such as staff enthusiasm, staff ability to explain things, support for learning and ability, and its ability to enhance students’ academic ability.

As a postgraduate student, you have a great range of accommodation options available to you while studying at LJMU. Each year the university sets aside a number of full flats for postgraduate or mature undergraduate students in several of our city centre halls. Students who choose one of these flats will therefore not have to share a living space with new undergraduates who are coming to university directly from school or college.

If you would prefer to live in private accommodation, Liverpool Student Homes will help you find suitable accommodation. You can visit the Liverpool Student Homes website to find out more or contact our LJMU Accommodation Team and they will be happy to help.

We also have a wide range of support for our international students from applying for your visa and travelling to Liverpool to hosting events and helping you meet new people. If you decide to apply to study at LJMU, our International Relations Team will be hosting applicant events to help answer any questions you may have about studying with us at LJMU. We also have a virtual Postgraduate Open Day on 20 March 2024 at 12pm UK time so you could register for this and find out more there!

As for part-time job opportunities, we have an on-site recruitment agency, UniTemps, that provides opportunities for our students to access paid work in support of their study that will strengthen their CV, their employability skills and their organisational awareness. Outside of the university, LJMU is based in the heart of the city centre, so finding a part-time role near where you live is convenient.

If you have any more questions about the course, or anything else, please let us know - we'd be more than happy to help.

Good luck!
