A study into the relationship between aging and women in popular music.

I am a final year student-teacher at Leeds Beckett University studying for a Music Industries Management Course. As part of my degree, I am undertaking a Professional Practice 3 module, which involves my own primary research. My aim is to apply theoretical concepts that I have learned within lectures to interview stakeholders within the music industry. For this study, I will be interviewing active female musicians and researchers in my chosen area of study. I will be investigating how female musicians navigate the music industry as they age and the considerations they need to undertake to stay ‘relevant’ and grow to the new climate. I will also be analysing the theoretical and academic framework behind this relationship, applying sociological and psychological research to inspire my initial arguments and justify my findings.
