I hade 21 and have so far done 10 
Well I do 10 subjects but all together I already have done 30+ exams this year (without mocks) and I still have 10 more exams to go. Some people do fewer exams or have done NVQ's or BTEC's where no exams are required just coursework. Others take fewer GCSE's and maybe 'easier' ones too. 
I had 24 and I've done 13 :s

More exams =/= harder subjects. The FSMQ is one paper, much harder than the Maths GCSE (two papers).
