Definitely. They've opened 2017 intake early for some universities. I had a direct link to the early application via my university.

Do they only check what you put on cv or what you say in telephone interview as well?

Also how do they check university society positions?

They just check if you indeed held the positions you listed, at the companies you listed, in the dates you listed.

I think there's a tacit acceptance that everyone embellishes the truth when answering really specific phone interview questions like "tell me about a time when your leadership skills influenced another person's contribution to a group activity".Hey, even answers to questions like "tell me about a time when you actively sought feedback" are going to be naturally exaggerated, simply because the real answer to that question (if answered honestly) would be totally mundane and boring and amount to little more than "I didn't know how to do X, so I asked teacher/professor/boss about how to do/improve X ...and then did so".
