I agree. **** that series.
Anyway, just watched Days of Heaven. Based on this and Badlands, it does seem like Terrence Malick likes his young male protagonists to be amoral, arrogant, vaguely psychotic schemers who are too incompetent for their schemes to work, and his young female protagonists clueless, naive, and awkwardly attractive. Brilliant films though, and even if they don't sound appealing, they deserve watching just for how gorgeous they are. Seriously, the man is better with his scenery than Kubrick.
