LOL I will be going there in September!

Just watched this on 4od. Aiden was really annoying and I think he's quite sad because of the importance he places on his social media status. I felt sorry for Lauren but she really didn't help herself much, at least she found a place to fit in at the end. Josie clearly had low self worth at the start of the term.
Watching this made me feel better about how I did in the terms of the social side of uni

God, I'm so sure Lauren has an account on TSR I'm sure shes the kind of person to post here. She is just so annoying, "me me me me me, wahhh wahhh, I dont drink, here are some depressing quotes for twitter, daniel i'm lonely, daniel lets go for a walk so I can tell you how much i hate life." I understand everyone doesn't want to join the mainstream uni culture, that's fine but her approach to this was so wrong. Even at the start when shes at the bottom of the stairs, this is just so passive agressive I find - go and socialise, or politely ask to get through to your room you awkward little girl.

Aiden is just a massive douche, being a "LAD!" - people like this get annoying fast... Josie is your typical modern day Christian, visits church in times of despair, later that week goes out and gets her brains smashed out by boys she just met...Now lets get onto "Mads" or "Madz" what a terrible nickname for starters... pretty much just an average girl really I haven't got much to say for her. Daniel well done to you mate for tolerating Lauren as long as you did, you're a real nice chap and you done the right thing telling her to jog on after she got far too clingy. Also that Nazi pre-drink game wasn't really funny

This really made me lol... Hahaha

If Aiden was my flatmate I would have ****ed off home as soon as he did that cringey handshake/wink thing. A degree maybe worth 9k a year but it's not worth that.
I didn't feel sorry for Lauren, she kept complaining and isolating herself from the flatmates. You obvioulsy aren't going to make that many friends if you insist on staying away from everybody.

That Aiden guy got on my nerves, he was so cringey and he just looked like he was overcompensating. I think he might have deep insecurities and tries to act like a 'lad' so people don't suss them out.

I liked Josie
is this real? they seem to have picked out the stereotypes

i'm only half way through but jesus ****ing christ i feel scared for uni now and i'm not totally sure why, probably Aiden :\ That Lauren seems really pretentious tbh, I do genuinely feel bad for people who don't like alcohol and therefore feel alienated in drunken situations but she seemed sat on her high horse, particularly with the NAZI thing - and why was the documentary trying to act like the only people who'd be offended by that would be history students lol? Think I'd be more sympathetic if Lauren was jewish or something. She's probably a nice girl really but the documentary sasying she "wasn't like other teenagers" just made her seem a bit pathetic and "oh im so above all of you" and how horrible it was, when really her flatmates seemed like they were trying to be nice to her (like when they took her home when she cried)

edit: finished it, liked Lauren a lot more when she stopped whinging and found herself in the Labour Party

After having watched this, I'm feeling nervous about going to university. I don't want to drink or have one night stands, but I still want to make friends and socialise. And it seems drinking is a big part of social life at uni :frown: maybe I should avoid Leicester

I felt sorry for Lauren, freshers week must have been awful for her.

Aiden was just annoying as ****

If you don't drink and do things the typical fresher does you won't be the only one, and you can probably still really enjoy yourself getting into other things. However that Lauren girl was a perfect guide of what not to do..

Exactly this , sorry guys but I have no sympathy for her . She deliberately though probably sub consciously isolated herself from the group , they make efforts to get her in but she only pulls herself further out . There is only so many times people will make an effort with you , that's something everyone needs to learn.

Aiden drove me nuts , the way he sought out fame and validation really made me pity him and I guess he's representative of the mass youth these days , its quite sad .

Just checked it out, pretty sure it's all staged.
My friend was on this show! Haha

Hi, I am a participant in the show, I won't say which one in case you hate me when you watch my story! Lol

The show is a 4 part series airing every Thursday at 10pm.
Each week concentrates on different students experiences at university throughout the first semester. The first episode was freshers week (or fortnight at leicester) and the last episode finishes with January exams.
The contributors were picked for the show before anyone had confirmed their choice of accommodation. The students chose either catered or self catered and the students were split into two flats. 6 in one and 5 in the other. (One student lived at home). As a tv show they picked students who could bring something to the show but were from different backgrounds, different interests and different social standings (the show is about social media and university after all). Everything on the show is real, however a few students may have acted up to the camera abit (towie, Geordie shore influences I'm afraid) or because of embarrassment may have shown bravado! but nothing was actively encouraged (or discouraged) by the production crew.
There are probably two students who were more introvert while the rest were more extrovert. Had the students gone into halls by random selection 'Lauren' may have had someone who was more introvert like herself to pal with instead of being with 4 extreme extroverts, and 'Josie' may have been with slightly calmer girls who could have calmed her down rather then egg her on. The same with the other students you'll meet later on.
Stick with the series, there are students in the show who are more 'mainstream' but they probably picked the three extreme characters to give the shock factor and get ratings. (Again although we are real students, it is an edited tv show!) each student was filmed from early sept until mid march but we each only have around 15 mins worth of air time, so please bare this in mind!

P.s enjoy and please be nice on twitter and Facebook!

That was simultaneously hilarious and unbearable to watch

It was toe curling in places, tbh, it was all too painfully real and brought some of the horrors of year one rushing back for me.

I don't think it's staged in the same way ridiculous shows like MiC or Towie are, but maybe there is some management of the characters. It did feel pretty real life watching it.

This is TSR. You're going to be exposed very soon.
Are all 18 year olds this vacuous, useless, and lacking in any degree of willpower and self-esteem, or did they select these lot especially?
Aiden is exactly the type of guy I can't stand. I was a fresher at Leicester last year when this was filmed, and I'm so glad I never had to come across him. "Just got an std, banter lol" how's about **** off and have a word with yourself.

I genuinely expected it to be revealed she was a mod.

She was a classic TSRian

first thread "why I don't drink"
second thread "why can't I make friends"
third thread "why am I 30 and still single"
Yeah! Recently discovered and watched it - hilarious stuff!
