Jesus died 2015 year ago, longer than the prophet and do we be blasphemous towards him? Christians celebrate Christmas to show their love and devotion.

The logic of your posts in this forum, is incredibly flawed. You need to get a proper education. It's sad you think they had it coming but no surprise to me because that appears to be the common underlying Muslim value stance - one diametrically opposed to cherished Western values of freedom to satirise, mock and criticise. No one is above that and that's one of the reasons the West has progressed, where the Muslim world has regressed and have to inculcate Western ideas to obtain a better life.

Defending freedom of speech is about defending the right of those who you may disagree with to air their views freely. "Je Suis Charlie" does not imply that you like or agree with the views of the magazine. It means you support free speech.

It's because Africans welcomed missionaries as liberators during colonisation. When the Pope came in Paris was a large crowd which came to see him. Catholics are therefore shown as slaves. The word "*******" was used because many of these Catholics are also far-right racists.
The paper is full of double-entendre and provocative puns. I say again that it is strongly anarchist/marxist, in the tradition of many other similar papers since the 19th century (such as l'Assiette au Beurre).

These are from ~1900.

In regards to my previous post, I still do not understand how white men illustrating a black female politician as a monkey is supposed to be satire.

Them being "anarchist" is irrelevant. A person cannot make racist caricatures and then say, "it's ok, I'm not right-wing!". This is too convenient. Racism and anti-Muslim sentiments are not exclusive to a particular political spectrum.

All I will say is, if Charlie Hebdo are not racist or Islamophobic in their caricatures of minorities such as Muslims and black people then why are many of them angry with the paper. If it is hard to tell whether someone is laughing at you or with you then it's safe to bet you are the butt of the joke.

There are many other pictures I had seen that are questionable (to say the least) but I won't take up your time by asking you to explain them all. Plus I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them as some are pornographic. I appreciate your explanation though.

Most of those who are angry with the paper are foreigners who don't understand the background, or people who never read it.

If you do not understand it why don't you go and read the magazine?

Not necessarily. Many French-speakers who understand the background still find it problematic.
The black/mixed race (?) woman in the link OP provided is one example:

I understand (because I can READ french) that many of the comics juxtapose the articles, HOWEVER that does not make them less racist
I watched French Television (France 3) tonight. There has been an incredible outpour of solidarity for Charlie Hebdo, in (almost) the entire French society. Be sure to buy the next number (if you manage to find a copy)

As far as I can tell, the terrorists have shot themselves squarely in the foot.

As I said earlier, the magazine was slowly dying, but the terrorists have given it a second life. 1 million copies of the next issue will be printed.

Yes, it has boosted the mag's yearly revenue 16 times over.

How is any of this racist?

For something that is unrelated to race, it's funny that Muslims are so frequently portrayed as brown people. Why is the concept so frequently associated with a certain population if the two were not seen as being connected?

Yes, they are consistently depicted in a certain way (Middle-Eastern looking). It seems the paper profited from racist anti-Muslim sentiments already existing in French society against their majority North African immigrant population as well as the general dislike for Muslims in the Western world. Even so, the extremity of the attackers action's mean the cartoonists will forever be etched in our minds as unsullied martyrs. Racism is a small crime compared to cold-blooded murder.

Exactly. Which is exactly what the vast, vast majority of muslims did (not do).

They're mock just about everyone yet look which group decides to shoot the place up, it's of course 'the religion of peace'

' whites continue to use laws as an excuse to be abusive to who we are whether it be religion, skin color, or sexual orientation. '

Kind of Ironic how a post supposedly condemning racism etc is overtly racist.
i liked the little article.

Why are you absolving these sick individuals of personal responsibility?

Also if you could clarify your first sentence please.

Should've known it would be *******s... it's completely irrelevant whether the magazine was offensive or not and if so to whom.
Except Christianity is mocked every day in this country/continent (and rightly so), and there is no violent backlash in response

Yes racism is a small crime, I totally agree even with the events of the KKK and 20th century America where people of colour got beaten, mistreated, tortured, killed and hanged simply because of their colour. Yes, I completely understand your statement of "racism is a small crime". Round of applause to you, no really that's the best statement I ever heard, wow. You, Sir, should be the next spokesman for EDL it'd benefit you greatly.
