Much of the malaise that damaged the working class began in the 1970s. The unions sowed the wind by bringing down democratically elected governments. They then reaped the whirlwind then Thatcher came to power.
Both Thatcher & Reagan had to turn around the disaster of the 1970s under difficult circumstances. They may have started globalisation but it continued under both Labour & Democratic parties. The reality is that is a industry isn't profitable, then, unless it's essential for nation defence, it has no place.
Both leaders helped to crush the USSR - between them they won the Cold War & freed Eastern Europe from the Soviet domination. After the repercussions of the Vietnam War, the Watergate scandal, the oil embargo & general economic mismanagement, the West was very struggling against the Soviet Union. However, the 1980s saw a total turn around & by the end of the decade, Western military & economy power was unmatched which was why the USSR fell.

The unions were part of the problem. The other problem was the oil crisis, which caused inflation to soar.

Let's not forget our current government still supports Authoritarian regimes such as the one in Saudi Arabia. The submarines would have go through parliament with absolutely no guarantee of a majority. Tories would definitely vote against, as would some of Labour and the Lib Dems.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm a fan of the KSA. I think Boris Johnson's criticism back in December rings very true.

Quite frankly, I'm more concerned about hell freezing over than I am about the chance of Corbyn becoming Prime Minister so I know it won't come down anything like that.

Again showing you know nothing , keynesian economics caused inflation. Even James Callaghan admitted it:
"We used to think that you could spend your way out of a recession and increase employment by cutting taxes and boosting government spending. I tell you in all candour that that option no longer exists, and in so far as it ever did exist, it only worked on each occasion since the war by injecting a bigger dose of inflation into the economy, followed by a higher level of unemployment as the next step."

You dodged all of temptest point with another bold claim with 0 evidence. Thatcher cured inflation using high interest rates. Thatcher and Regan both turned the disasters of the left around. By saying people are the working class are screwed illustartes your stupidity.

Thatcher made 3 million unemployed. I guess tories like unemployment, but hate benefits. I would like Tories like Harold MacMillan, unfortunately, there is not a lot of them these days
They can march all they want. It's not like it's going to change anything. lol

P.S. Socialism doesn't work.

Actually look at France , Venezuela and all current day socialist countries and look at Kenya who refused to embrace capitalism whereas Taiwan did , it doesn't take Einstein to work out which country has better living standards. France's 75% tax failed, 10% unemployment , its a shambles where socialism is failing.
It was a short term loss for long term gain. Companies had to restructure and there was a recession .
Again she had to raise interest rates a lot to curb inflation caused by the mess labour created
If you take inflation into account , Thatcher caused the year with the highest economic growth post 1960.

Harold MacMillan was a better leader than Thatcher. Thatcher should rot in hell. The North still hasn't recovered from the mess she caused all those years ago.

Still ignored my points and not addressed even one. Then make bold claims with no evidence. You truly are incompetent

Lmfao . Another bold statement, you would rather we would be equally miserable. You can't be rich so be jealous on others because you failed in life.

The civil servant can do all the economic side of things. Remember, I'm only interested in foreign policy and not economics.

But I'll still hate Thatcher though, she ruined the North for ever. There is no way the North will recover from the mess Thatcher made.
