Get into med school first. Usually A*AA is the minimum offer (could stretch it to AAA). Definitely need chemistry, biology preferable and either maths or physics. I'm doing chem/bio/maths/eng lit.

Isn't neurosurgery a run-through training programme so you begin neurosurgery training at ST1?
Why do you want to be a neurosurgeon?

Not sure if that is a very good reason? What do you mean it looked fun, which part?

I would recommend reading Do No Harm by Henry Marsh - written by a consultant neurosurgeon about his life and career, really interesting read and obviously relevant to your interests

Hello everyone
I wanted to know what subjects i need to become a neurosurgeon. Right now i'm in year 12
i picked all sciences this year and was wondering what grades i need and what i should do after high school ..

Thank you

med school > foundation years > specialisation
do a google search
I recommend you read When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalinithi- very raw and powerful, so worth the read. It's an autobiography of his time as a medical student, neurosurgeon and then as a patient after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Gives such a good insight, esp into the pressures, of being a neurosurgeon and about what makes life worth living when you're dying. Will definitely make you think and do some soul-searching. Could also double up as your inspiration to become a neurosurgeon instead of 'just wanting to'.
ok I'm really confused what is the difference between BMAT and UKCAT? If i want to do medicine at university, which do I have to do/ both?
Does an intercalated masters have higher points than an intercalated bsc when you apply for these posts?
I’m guessing it’s much better to intercalate at uni when In med school?
so are they different exams where i would have to learn different things?

:colonhash: Someone needs to learn how to Google things. Go on the Bmat and UKCAT website.
