Can't do angles :s:

How can X and Y be worked out here, what are those paralell lines therefore and does AD = DC??

Use the fact that BCD is isocles and all angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees.

you can work x out cos its in a isocles traingle-
so 34 +2x= 180
rearange this to make x the subject so u get:
x= 180-34/2
x=73

you can work y out cos all angles in triangle =180
so y+x+34 +38 =180
x= 73

so y + 145=180
therefore y = 35

soz i dont know the last part
AD doesn't equal DC becasue 35dgrees doesn't eqaul 38 degrees therefore lines that meet at the same point(D) cannot be of equal length

hope that hepls
