Sitting as a Private candidate : any drawbacks ?

I changed my school at the end of my tenth grade. My new school offers o-levels not IGCSE. I had been preparing for IGCSEs but my school wont let me enter for IGCSE as a regular/school candidate (wants me to enter for o'levels instead).

Therefore, I decided to sit my subjects as a private candidate.

Are there any disadvantages of appearing as a private candidate ?

Does it affect of that persons chances of getting into a good university or a good job ?

you have to find a centre that will allow private candidates, and from what i know of iGCSEs and O Levels you can't get into uni with them, you have to have A Levels, which i'm sure can be done internationally.

The sensible thing here would of been to go to a school that did iGCSEs. sorry if that sounds harsh, but it would of been first thing i checked out.
