Does the college allow your son to resit the A Level in an extra year (e.g. 19 years old)?

If not, there are several ways:

Do an online A Level course then sit the exams as a private candidate

•

Do an offline A Level course then sit the exams through the college

•

Revise on the material taught (either through books, revision guides, exam practices, etc.) then sit the exams as a private candidate.

The requirements for each subject can vary and can depend on whether the candidate has passed the practical elements. It's usually the practical elements that pose the most costs and problems.
