Right on. !Photo of ice berg looks ideal for climbing from shuttling life boats.
They had some equipment which could have been adapted. Obviously you would have landing party which would have made up ropes, laid down blankets, drove in metal spikes etc and then offloaded passengers. Perhaps steaming slowly towards the California would have been a better idea, while making more attempts to signal it. Also putting effort into makeshift life rafts.
