A* Similar shapes question please help

X and Y are two geometrically similar solid shapes.
The total surface area of shape is X 450 cm2
The total surface area of shape is Y 800 cm2

The volume of shape X is 1350 cm3

Work out the volume of shape Y

I did 800/450 = 0.75
0.75 x 1350 = 2400

but the answer is 3200, so it looks like you add 800, the surface area of Y onto it?

Or am i doing something wrong?

Thanks! ;D

Yes

Scale Factor = x N

Area Factor = x N2

Volume Factor = x N3

AND

800/450 is not 0.750

first do 800/450 =1.78
then square route that to find 1.333
then cube 1.333 to get 2.37
1350 * 2.37 =3200

Can you see the relationship in these two examples ?

I’m lazy to write in full but scalefactor of area is not the same as volume you have to square root it then cube it
