history unit 3c - A divided union- could you check my answer?

is this enough to get me 6 marks for the first question- what can you learn about the USA in 1950's.

From source A we can learn that America believed there was going to be a communist takeover. This is show by the title- 'is this tomorrow', there is no question mark to emphasize that this is actually going to be 'America under communism'. The piece of propaganda shows a very horrible and chaotic image, making communism seem undesired. we know this is true because communism would pose great threat to American values e.g cultural freedom, as they believed in a very dictated country, with everyone having the same rights.

secondly we can learn that America saw communism as a threat; an American flag is burning to show the end of American values, and the beginning of a violent period. this is shown by the violence shown on the propaganda. we can therefore infer and conclude that in America 1950's many feared a communist takeover because it would be threatening to all citizens.

Agree.

Full marks I think but no need to include this:

"we know this is true because communism would pose great threat to American values e.g cultural freedom, as they believed in a very dictated country, with everyone having the same rights."

The question asks you to infer from the source. I read in an examiner's report that you should not refer to your own knowledge and should only make inferences from the source itself.

I agree. Question 1 is solely testing you of what you can make out from the source. So 'Source A implies that' 'because' 'This suggests' x2
