Complex numbers help

Can anybody please help me with this question I am really confused.

It is given that z = x+iy

Solve the equation (Z+i)* = 2iz+1

in the form a+bi

Where (z+i)* denotes the complex conjugate of (z+i)

z = x + yi
z* = x - yi

Therefore, (z+i)* = ...
Therefore, 2iz + 1 = ...

Hint: substitute
Note that the complex conjugate is simply the complex number with negated imaginary part

i.e. you flip the point in the real axis of the argand diagram.

z = x+iy

z+i = x+(y+1)i

(z+i)* = x-(y+1)i

Well z + i = x + iy + i = x + i(y + 1)

so what does the rule for conjugation do to this?

I just recently started complex numbers, why does z+i equals that? where did the y+1 come from?

not sure what you are struggling with

z also has yi and then you add another i so that makes (y+1)i

Which is the same as x + (y+1)i

Oh right! Forgot that z = x +iy is exactly the same as z = a + bi
