Law conversions..confused

If someone does a non law degree and then a conversion, how will they be assessed? Who would be in a better position for a training contract, someone with a first doing law at Nottingham or someone with a first at Politics at Nottingham and then a conversion, provided they have the same EC..
I don't think one is preferred over the other.

But that doesn't make any sense...a law degree is harder to get into, higher requirements because its more competitive and you have to do things like LNAT at some unis. Plus when you get to uni, the degree is hard and maybe boring compared to something like philosophy or politics which are easier to get into and easier to do well in while being more interesting...
At a good university like Nottingham, most courses are well respected, some people see someone with a different degree as being a better candidate because they have a broader knowledge. The GDL is also a very intense course as it's everything condensed into one year, not three. Plus some people don't realise what career they want until when they are in university.
