Our dog let herself out the front door one day (double glazing style front door waist height handle). We didn't notice. 20 minutes later Mum got a text from a friend saying they had a canine guest pop round for a cup of tea and a biscuit.
There was also another time she let herself out, and had a stay in a doggy hotel (aka the local dog warden's pound) overnight because it was out of hours so they didn't answer their phone when we tried to track her down - the overnight stay cost us £120!
