Rejecting a Graduate Job Offer I've accepted (KPMG To PwC)

Hello,

I've was offered a Job with KPMG very early last Month to start in September.

I applied for PwC as well, but due to extenauting circumstances, I applied for a different location for PwC to be safe. These circumstances have been realized so I know have to stay in Manchester, where my offer for PwC is from but my offer from KPMG is for Reading.

Both jobs wouldn't start until September next year. KPMG states in their contract that if I terminate, I won't be able to work for any competitors for 6 months. September next year obviously is more than 6 months away.

Am I legally allowed to contact KPMG and notify them that I can no longer work for them due to extenauting circumstances tying me to another location?

Thanks!

Of course you can. What's the alternative - them forcing you to move to Reading? Taking you to court for a contract of employment that hasn't yet commenced?

This sh*t happens all the time at every single intake at the Big 4 - they won't give a single f*ck, it's basically built into their recruitment models.
