Does 'strong absorption' and 'sharp absorption' mean the same thing, in infrared spectroscopy ?

For example, "The strong absorption is caused by C=O". Does that mean sharp absorption ?

No.

Strong absorption would mean an intense signal, so a long peak on the graph.

Sharp is a thin / non-round peak. E.g. alcohol O-H peak is often a strong but wide peak. Ketone carbonyl peak is often strong but sharp.
