Hello. I am majoring in Engineering and none of my offers require STEP. However I am planning to take STEP for fun.

STEP is an entrance exam, not a qualification! You don't get a certificate and you definitely don't put it on your CV - it's pretty meaningless to anyone outside the maths departments of top universities, and even then it's only relevant in the short time-frame of application.
Is the AEA still running - that might be worth taking if you want an additional qualification?
Oh, and I believe STEP 1 no longer exists, but the official STEP site should confirm this.
