Hi, I have accepted keele offer for Pharmacy MPharm but I’m still confused about keele. It feels the course will be good but it doesn’t look that it will be fun? Anyone accepted offer or still a keele student

Hi!

I'm a current PhD student at Keele (I study English Literature, and I also did my MA at Keele) and my colleague over @Keele University is a current undergraduate student, so you're welcome to ask us about life on campus! There's also some current students from various courses that you can chat with via Unibuddy: https://www.keele.ac.uk/study/chat/.

In what way are you worried that it won't be fun? Because the course looks intensive or because you're worried there isn't much to do on campus or in the surrounding area?

If it's the latter, I'd like to offer some reassurance. Keele might not be able to rival a big city such as Manchester for nightlife or shopping but there's still plenty going on, both on campus and in the local area. In addition to the Students Union (which run everything from silent discos and DJ sets to quiz nights and crafternoons) and their wide array of affiliated clubs and societies (https://keelesu.com/activities/clubs-societies/), there's also the Keele Postgraduate Association (https://www.kpa.org.uk/), our dedicated postgraduate students union.

Although the KPA is there to support postgraduates, the KPA Clubhouse is open to everyone in the Keele community and, in addition to offering great food and drink, runs an array of events throughout the year. We also have Green Keele - our sustainability team - who run lots of activities around sustainability and wildlife, such as the Hedgehog Friendly Campus initiative, and Student Eats, student gardening sessions in our walled garden. On top of all that, there's also opportunities to get involved with volunteering via both the SU and Keele Careers.

In terms of the wider area, Stoke on Trent and Newcastle Under Lyme have the usual compliment of shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as cinemas. escape rooms, and other activities. Many of our local businesses offer student discounts as well! And if you do want a day/night out in the city, there's a direct train to Manchester from Stoke station, plus easy access via the train to Birmingham, Liverpool, and London. If you've got access to a vehicle, or don't mind exploring on the bus, we're also right on the edge of the Peak District (where there is some fantastic walking), and there are some fantastic National Trust properties nearby (plus a student society that arranges trips to them: https://keelesu.com/activities/society/18939/). If shopping is more your thing, there's a boutique shopping village at Trentham Gardens that is accessible via bus from Newcastle Under Lyme, and it's also only a short hop up the M6/M56 to Cheshire Oaks.

Hope that helps but if you have any specific questions, please let me know!
