Hi I'm staying in Stoke and I'll be taking the bus. I'm confused about the bus journey to the university...The journey to the uni is different on the firstbus website to what google says. And I've heard the bus 25 isn't good? Which one is correct/reliable?

Hi Anon,
Yes, it's the 25 that runs to/from Stoke to the university. It runs every 20 minutes for most of the day, with some variations in the morning and evening as well as at weekends/bank holidays. Keele University, alongside local transport links First Potteries and D&G Bus, offer an exclusive bus ticket for Keele students and staff.
I don't use the bus all that often, but quite a few of my friends do and 've not heard that it's a bad service. It has a long route (you can see the map at https://www.firstbus.co.uk/sites/default/files/public/maps/25-webmap_proof.pdf) and, as a result, it does take some time to get from Keele campus to Stoke but that's simply because there's quite a few stops in between!
I am considering studying at keele but I come all the way from manchester the bus 25 trip takes nearly the same time I took from manchester to Stoke on Trent which is so inconvenient. I really wish the university had a special bus directly from the train station to the university for its students.

I have a similar issue, which is why I eventually chose to commute by car. The 25 is great for students based in/around Stoke on Trent and Newcastle but, when you add in a train journey (mine would be from Stafford, with an additional bus journey prior to that to get to Stafford station), it does make the commute by public transport a lengthy one.
If commuting by car isn't an option for you, some students do take a taxi or an Uber from the station. Uber tells me that this takes 15-12 minutes and works out at between £8-15 each way depending on the taxi size, time of day etc., however local firms may be cheaper. You may find there are other commuting students who would share a taxi with you to help with costs?
If cycling is your thing, you can also hire a Brompton bike from the train station for just £2.50 per day and cycle to Keele campus (https://www.keele.ac.uk/about/howtofindus/#by-bike)! As another option, there are various car-sharing schemes that you could look into, and options to get to us from Crewe station (as opposed to Stoke).
You can find out more about different options for getting to/from Keele at https://www.keele.ac.uk/about/howtofindus/. Hopefully one of them might work a bit better for you!

Hello,
Have you resolved the issue please? Because I am going through the same issue as you.
