FIA have u-turned. They are inviting 'expressions of interest' from new teams (Hyundai and Andretti-Porche on the way).

Thank you. OP updated.
Well, that was completely unexpected. Andretti have again announced they're intention to joing f1 but.. With Caddilac Power Units.

It looks to be a similar deal to audi / sauber in the sense that Caddilac will supply pus for new 2026 cycle but andretti will be using a current PU till then (likely to be Renault).the andretti team won't be in f1 till 2025 however per motorsport.com

F1 still hasn't accepted their application yet but that definitely looks to be interesting. It's highly likely the PU will be made by ilmor as they're doing all the gm stuff for indycar and helping out with the lmdh car

That's disappointing unless GM are actually going to invest properly. It sounds like it could resemble the Cosworth engines of the early decade.

Thats what they've been doing with indycar for ages. They are going to be involved from 2026 as current engine specs are homologated.

It's also interesting if the rumours about Ford joining are true and hyundai

McLaren have stated that their 'team launch' will also be on the 13th.

Presumably that's them just being a bit more honest that these are often more like livery reveals nowadays.

Good, the postion was downright bizziare. Andretti is not like HRT, Manor etc. They are a serious entry who deserve merit. F1 is desperate to break into new markets, Andretti may help with the US market and Hynudai witth the east Asain.

That came out of the blue completlt tbh but makesa bit of sense. They clearly want to make the entry as serious as possible so some GM involvmeent makes sense so you might as well go for more of the more luxery US Brands.

I hope GM do invest proerly but I think having thw Caddilac name on the grid helps

Wonder how two GM brands going against one another would work, Hyundai is very left field tbh no real Motorsport herirage
I want Hamilton to get his 8th WDC after being robbed in 2021. The new glimpse of the W14 looks incredible though, it sounds like Mercedes have ironed out the bouncing problems from last season. When the W13 had the right track, it performed very well. So I'm hopeful, and I think Lewis still has enough in the tank to see off Verstappen.
