Do law firm offer training schemes

To graduates that do not hold law degrees but wants to retrain

With the new SQE route, technically you could, however, I don't think there are any firms who are going to take that risk when there are so many graduates with law degrees or the GDL. Having neither puts you in a position where it is just not desirable to take that risk.

You should look into the Graduate Diploma in Law, this is a one year course and puts you at the same level as somebody with a law degree. Alternatively, you may want to look into CILEX which gives you a route to the law without having to do any further degree or intensive study.
Yes, the best firms continue to want to recruit from those who have an LLB and other degrees. They will sponsor those without a law degree through the PGDL first eg the City Consortium put non law graduates through the 2 term BPP PGDL before the SQE courses there LLB students do.
It is all set out here
Eg. https://www.slaughterandmay.com/careers/trainee-solicitors/apply/the-route-to-qualification/

"If you have not completed a law degree in England and Wales, we may require you to complete all, or some, modules of the Law Foundations Course (PGDL) before commencing the CCP. This is likely to be necessary if you have not completed modules in these seven key areas of law: Contract, Tort, Criminal Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Property Law, Equity and Trusts, and the Law of the European Union. You may study the Law Foundations Course (PGDL) in person at any BPP branch; Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, London (Waterloo) or Manchester.

We pay the course fees for the Law Foundations Course (PGDL) and the CCP and provide a maintenance grant of £12,000 for the Law Foundations Course and £17,000 for the CCP. There is also an interest-free financial hardship loan of up to £3,000 available to our future trainees. "
