for the macbeth question can they ask a broad question about the theme
eg "how is gender presented" or do they normally have to do a more specific one like for example" how is lady macbeth presented as independent"

Hi, I'm not a specialist, but they usually do a bit specific as they give you an extract that has a strong meaning and relation to the question. TBH, it's hard but just try to use quotes and know the play really well.
