The cyclohexene separated in Question 02.2 was obtained as a cloudy liquid. The student dried this cyclohexene by adding a few lumps of anhydrous calcium chloride and allowing the mixture to stand.

Give one observation that the student made to confirm that the cyclohexene was dry.

Why did the solution turn colourless please ? And what made it cloudy in the first place ?

The cloudiness is a result of water that is present, but not properly mixed into the cyclohexene (since water and cyclohexene are pretty much completely immiscible).

Anhydrous CaCl2 is a drying agent- it absorbs the water, leaving behind clear and colourless cyclohexene

In the context of the question it said that the distillate containing cyclohexanol and cyclohexene was shaken with saturated NaCl solution & then the cyclohexene was separated using separating funnel. What was the purpose of the NaCl solution then? Im assuming it removed soluble impurities but pls confirm

Saturated NaCl is also a drying agent.
