maths gcse higher paper 3

for the triangular one, can i get the mark if I plugged in the numbers 1 and 2 so...
1(1+1)/2 which gave me 1 and 2(2+1)/2 which gave me 3 and then when u add them u get 4 and that's a square number

Sorry, that is no marks. Algebraic proof involves doing algebra.
