In feynman diagrams how do we know if the W boson is + or - in a beta minus decay??
You can consider a boson as something that carries charge away. In beta - decay, a neutron turns into a proton so it has to have lost a negative charge (0 - (-1) = 1). It loses this charge as a w- boson, which later turns into an electron and electron antineutrino. TLDR: beta - decay uses a w- boson
