KCL PE vs Econs

Hi, is there anyone who can give some info regarding KCL Political Economy vs Economics? The opportunities, especially for internships at banks or in the finance sector is something that I'm interested to know more about (yes i know kcl is not a target/semi-target so IB is difficult).

I would also like to know if PE is more essay based than maths based? I would like to pursue modules like game theory and environmental econs, are those very difficult to bid for? In terms of KCL life, is there a major difference?

I know that PE is older than Econs, but I'm torn since all of the modules I want to do are only available in PE, but I'll have to sit through Politics modules as well. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi! I'm sorry this is 2 months late, I haven't logged in here in awhile, essentially Political Economy is a more niche subject, compared to Economics, and its much older with more modules available. It can be both essay and maths based depending on the modules you choose because after the first year you're able to choose your modules already. I was told everyone gets the modules they want so hopefully that's true! Political Economy looks into economics movements and applies a sort of political approach to solving them and understanding them. Economics is a little more straightforward. In terms of internships and finance and stuff, I was told that KCL is above the lower tier London Uni's but of course there is competition with UCL/ICL/LSE but the Department of Political Economy (their Econs department) is pretty well established among banks etc. Hope this helps!
