Concentration Gradients

In AQA A level Biology, is it "down" the concentration gradient or "along" the concentration gradient? I usually use "along" with no issue but have been told not to use it

It's been a long time since I did A levels, and I remember that I used to use "along", but came across a mark scheme which did not accept "along" and specifically wanted "down". Best to stick with "down" the concentration gradient.

I always put "down" if it's diffusion and "against" if it's active transport
