Just out of curiosity, as I am also applying this year and looking at paid interview courses- they're all so expensive if you buy MMI circuits, 1-1 tutoring etc. Wondering how many of you spent money on these paid courses and if it was worth it?
Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.

I don't like how alot of companies take advantage of desperate students that want to get in by doing well on their UCAT or BMAT or interview. It not only makes students feel like they need it through their marketing and shameless plugging on this very website, but it can also create great disadvantages in people who don't have the money to pay for these expensive courses which, and I'm speculation, creating a greater financial divide and also creating more anxiety for them thinking they've missed out.
I don't particularly agree with those books for BMAT or UCAT question banks, but atleast some of these aren't sold for extortionate prices with questionable marketing.
Btw you don't need any of these payed courses to do well. I know people who payed £70 for medify and didn't do better than someone who used a £20 book and free past papers.
I don't know if these MMI mock things are worth their money, but I haven't heard much about it either. I don't think paying between £60-100 on something like that is fair is any sense.

I used the medical school interviews book by George Lee and Olivier Picard and I really recommend it. I believe it was £25 on Amazon but there are other websites which may have it cheaper!
For practice don’t go spending loads of money for circuits and tutoring, you can just as easily practice with a friend/family member!

Nothing. The interview courses are a rip off. The ISC book is decent and then just practise with your family/friends/anyone.

Nothing, I'm from a WP background so I couldn't really afford to get any. The only resources I used was the GMC documents, Ollie Burton's videos (LEGEND) and got another med applicant to practice with me lol
These courses are a scam and rip off desperate students - all the information you need can be found online, it's not like they have special insight into the admissions process. Additionally unis make applications an unbiased process so it's not like those that can pay more are more likely to get a place, this is not something the unis will want.
