Medical Statistics Question Help Please
"A study comparing the efficacy of sotalol and propranolol in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias was conducted. It is hypothesised that propranolol is more effective than sotalol in the treatment of these arrhythmias.
The results of the study showed that sotalol induced a therapeutic response in 56% of the participants, and propranolol induced a therapeutic response in 29% of participants (p = 0.02).
However, the conclusion of the study states that propranolol is more effective than sotalol in the treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
What type of error is being made in this conclusion? Type 1 error or type 2 error."
Why is the answer type 2 error?
I thought
H0: propanolol is not more effective than sotalol.
The results would make you accept H0/null hypothesis. But they rejected H0 and incorrectly rejecting the null hypothesis is type 1 error right?
