foundation and 5 year med course

is it possible to apply to 2 foundation years; with the grades i achieved this summer (just finished y13) and then apply to 2 5 year med courses with pending resit grades. or would that take away my option of the foundation years?

i would take 4 foundation options but the min grade for them is BBB, i got ABC. so leaves me with 2 unis i can go to

I did this when i reapplied as I got BBC ! - It won't take away your chances from the Foundation courses. For example I applied standard to HYMS and Bristol then foundation with notts then the EMDP at KCL- I was predicted and i achieved A*A in bio and sociology. I got offers from all 4! I had a B in Chemistry which didn't make ineligble for the foundation courses

ty for the response (: appreciate it a lot i’ve been trying to figure out how i could apply like this somehow but it’s confusing

did u use two separate grade sets though? as in one being ur actual grades, BBC. and then one ur predicted to HYMS and bristol?

cause the foundation courses i’m looking at say if u meet the requirement for normal med you can’t apply to the gateway/foundation. and if i were to resit and get AA in the other two of my subjects, my foundation offers (if i get them) would still stand? because then i might be eligible for their normal medical courses.

So I put my achieved grades of BBC into my UCAS then my reference put A*A so my UCAS grades was A*ABC ( The C is in physics and I took a new alevel which was my A)

I emailed KCL and Notts to confirm if i could apply. And they said as long as my achieved met the Foundation entry requirements then my resits and predicted wouldn't affect my application onto their foundation courses. And Notts only took my first set of grades of BBC

So basically your standard course will look at your predicted but your foundation will look at your achieved.

" if u meet the requirement for normal med you can’t apply to the gateway/foundation" this will only affect you if you're applying for the standard and foundation at the same school. And yes, you can get the offer even if you have a higher achieved grade

i cant apply to notts &
i contacted one of the only 2 courses that would accept me and they said :

To clarify; if your achieved grades are ABC, but you are predicted to achieve an overall profile of AAA from your resits, you will not be eligible to apply to the Gateway to Medicine course and should instead apply to the 5-year MBChB course. ):
I want to apply to foundations so bad just cause i feel like there’s still a chance i may not get both As and i don’t have a plan on what to do after that

also did you apply to KCL emdp with predicted? cause the requirement is now ABB

Oh🥲 sorry about that - to be fairs i didn’t put my predicted on my UCAS. I had to send them to each university individually, and my reference did the same. So my application it said BBC achieved. But later emailed them with my predicted ( i did this because i literally forgot to put my predicted as i thought my reference did it so they emailed it at a later date). I didn’t notice this error till KCL emailed me saying i don’t have my predicted written down. So yes i applied to KCL with my predicted.

Also if you’re contextual, check the universities you want to apply to and you’ll only need their contextual grades to be offered an interview.

Yes, the Bs were in those 2

I don't really know to be fairs. I was an 'external' applicant according to my head of sixth form who was my reference so they couldn't put down predicted according to them hence why they and me had to email each university with my predicted A-Levels

And yes I think so, like with Bristol- they don't mind resits and as long as you have achieved the gateway grades- you'll be fine to apply

I did Sociology!

Basically, I started learning content in september and as there's three papers, i did 3 blocks of learning:

1. Paper One - Sept-Nov -> Did 2 past papers everytime i finished a paper's content
2. Paper Two - Nov-Feb
3. Paper Three - March <-- quite a short and interlocking topic with the other papers so it only took me a bit to learn
4. Revise and recap - April to exams -> Did flashcards, blurting, past papers and predicted essay plans that i checked with my teacher

For the last paper content, I went into lessons in my old school
I also maintained contact with my old school teachers to help gaps in learning and mark my things
I did around at least 20 hours of learning a week along with my biology resit consistently - i had a little slump in january

For learning the content
I made anki flashcards whilst using Tutor2U youtube videos and using a revision guide -> I did my flashcards everyday so content sticks

Also I had a part-time job so I wasn't always revising and I was away on holiday for a month too

In the end I got 182 marks !
