Hey there, welcome to the thread!
I've just about finished my PS now, but I can empathise as it has been a struggle! Skatealexia has written an awesome article about veterinary statements that's stickied at the top of the veterinary forum, I recommend you give that a read if you haven't already. Also, some of the lovely vet students on here very kindly offer to read people's statements and offer suggestions. They're back at vet school now and the service is popular so you might have to be prepared to wait for a bit, but the address to send them to is
[email protected] . The deadline for that is the 12th of October, but as I said they're busy people so it's probably better to send sooner rather than later. There's also a Facebook group for 2015 applicants. I've been in it for about a year now and it's really great for asking questions. If you're interested drop me a PM and I'll send you the link.
My statement is five paragraphs long, and two of those (which also happen to be the biggest two, making up about 50% of the total piece) are about wex. It's one of the most important parts of an application (everyone will have got the grades, so wex is what sets you apart from other people!), so it should make up a substantial proportion of your statement and it's worthwhile going into a fair bit of detail. I briefly touched on a placement that I have booked, however it's not absolutely necessary.
Unfortunately I haven't managed to get to an abattoir yet. I live in London and we don't have many of those round here! I'm still trying though
Best of luck!
