I know what you mean, there are so many people on TSR that seem to think they know everything about medical applications when in fact they don't know enough. I took AS Maths and it was the biggest regret of my life, I didn't enjoy it and I would have much rather studied a different subject than had to devote so much time to a subject I really had no interest in. I didn't mind integration, differentiation and the topics along those lines although apart from that I found myself wishing I'd chosen something else.

Hmm you make a good point. I don't know whether to apply to a college that states that they don't mind what subject you choose as your third subject, I'm just so unsure! I've asked a few people and they're all telling me just to stay with New but I'm really grateful for your help as you're putting it into perspective for me. Do you think it would be risky? I want to ensure that my application is at least considered as my stats are good (I hope), so I don't want my college choice to ruin my Oxford chances for me!

Thank you once again, I actually do really appreciate the help  it's just such a stressful time!

If I were you, I would apply to Oxford. If your GCSEs are excellent and your AS grades/predictions are too, then with a strong BMAT score you no doubt have a good shot. I think the fact that 7% of successful applicants only had 2 science or maths subjects is actually rather high - I'd expect it to be lower for Oxford but it's not! Good luck

You're interviewed at two colleges anyway and the pre-interview process is all centralised so perhaps I am being too cautious. Plus perhaps the person who wrote the website didn't mean to imply a preference at all :dontknow:

Apply where you will.

I am thinking wadham, love the atmoshere and the students. Why Somerville?

Wadham was my first choice too! I think it's so beautiful and I love their liberalism. I chose Somerville because I looked at Wadham's English professors and their specialisms aren't really up my street. So I looked for a similar kind of college with professors specialising in similar eras and came up with Somerville. Also the library... :P

Wadham I think , I am applying post a2 so I got my grades, I just need the Elat to go well. What are you subject choices?

Aaah I see! That's pretty sweet!
English Lit, Drama, Art and Film, though I've dropped Film at A2. I got AAAA and predicted A*A*A*
I've justified my choices and explained how they've supported English in my PS, but I wouldn't blame them if they saw my subjects and didn't bother :s-smilie:

Anyone know when we're likely to hear back from Oxford? Does it vary from college to college?

Well not until late November I assume, people need to sit the various aptitude tests before they can make a decision.

You might get a confirmation that your application is being considered but the interview invitations won't go out until a week or two before you're due to come for interview. So, yes, late November is about right.
