The red line shows a journey from O to E.
The first part is half of the vector OA and the second part is ? of the vector OB.
So OE = ½a + ?b.

How did you do part a ?

You do the reverse for part b.

I completed part b, part c still left.
Why isn't the answer of part C: 1/6 b -1/2 a.
My vector for a is correct but b is wrong, why is that.

Because the yellow diagonal is not represented by the a vector.

The a vector is going in a completely different direction.
