Maths GCSE *HELP*

I need help with this question. (attatched) I have no idea where to start because I can divide a line when the ratio is in the form AB:BC but I don't know how to form that ratio in that sequence myself? Help, please. Thanks!

Hi, without giving too much of the answer away, I'd say a good starting point is realising that the length BC is 100% of BC (pretty obvious ) and more importantly, that AB is 125% of BC (since it is 25% longer than BC). Comparing these percentages should lead you in the right direction.

i think i might be wrong, but is the ratio 5:4?

5:1 say BC = 100%, AB = 25% longer therefore AB = 125% and BC = 100% = 125:25 = 5:1

Its in the form AB:BC
so like you said AB is 125%
and BC is 100%
so wouldn't it be .. 125:100 = 25 : 20 = 5 :4

Would you mind if I asked you for help with another question similar to this one?

(I'm really bad at wrapping my head around ratios) :frown:

How would you think of starting it? That's where you're struggling the most I think so it'll be good for you to guess then get hints from there. Don't worry about getting it wrong, just post anything you understand from the question!
