I can't remeber if it was sunderland but I think there is a big theater thing for shows which could be good if we save up once in a while too! The Empire Theatre is in Sunderland, every now and again it does special offers for Students if it needs to fill seats.
Last year I got front row tickets for the last night of Starlight Express, Hairspray and Rocky Horror Show...for £1 each.
