Go to the local tip, people always throw out perfectly good bikes.

Or check the local paper for people selling them.


There's always eBay too.
Halfords has some decent ones. With an NUS extra card I think you get discount as well.

Local papers are probably your best bet if you know what you're looking for, although you run the risk of buying a bike that is a bit out of shape. A secondhand bike shop's probably better if you want something a bit more reliable.

I'd advise you the same, buying a secondhand bike from someone can be risky cause you can't always see if anything is wrong with the bike.. if you buy it in a shop you can always go back..
