Japan :@:@:@ EVIL?

I am sorry but I have lost all respect for Japan, not that I had much in the first place.

They slaughter whales and sell their meat under a clause which allows the killing of whales for scientific research!?!? How on earth do they get away with that?
(Sea Shepherd for the win)

Then they slaughter 23,000 dolphins per year for food, despite the intrinsically bad health ramifications of eating this meat (Mercury posioning)
It is alleged that they also deliberately torture the dolphins and cause them a slow death because they believe the adrenaline released makes the meat taste better?

I understand that people kill animals for food, I do. But these animals have been proven to be intelligent. Japan uses the excuse it's in our culture to kill and eat these animals, it's not. The people of Japan do not even realise it's happening!

Then they pay lesser countries to join the IWC (international Whaling Commission) and influence them to bid in Japan's favour, of allowing whaling to recommence.

then I see they pay some jack-**** money seeking lawyer to plead a case which is so transparent and lacking in any moral or ethical attributes.

Really, they infuriate me!

They gave us Pokemon and Sushi.

What have you given us?

But Japan gave us Death note so i suppose it all evens out.
Pigs are intelligent, more so than dogs and we kill them.

After what the Dolphins did to Hiroshima I don't blame them
Your right OP, we should totally like, nuke Japan again just for lolz
And that makes them worse than us (ya know, people who blow the **** out of the middle east) does it?
Whales and dolphins are awesome!
It's a shame really, but I do genuinely believe it is part of their culture..it must be or they wouldn't do it at the expense of going against the international community. However, they need to get with the times, it's not acceptable in this day and age to be slaughtering whales and dolphins.

I think Japan as a country though is amazing, for a country its size to have an economy in the top 3 of the world is just a staggering achievement.

Call Kim Sung and complain!
erm, you obviously have no idea about the historical conflict between whales + dolphins and Japan. You'd do the same if they'd bombed you to hell

We should teach them to murder cows and chickens like normal people.
From what I've read about Imperial Japan :nope:

They genuinely believed they were superior to their neighbours, and hence treated them as sub-human. Bad times.

But, on the other hand there are all the awesome things from that country, like... Gundams, robots, and pizza, and all the crazy things we love. :h:
Good on them, whales and dolphins scare me no end, the less of them the better if you ask me.

******* whales, bane of my life they are.

When will people on here grow the **** up and realise that animals do not have any feeling, nor any rights, and that it makes one no less of a person if one kills and eats animal. When will people also understand that animals are not intelligent. They cannot think like us, feel like us, etc etc etc.

ITS A ******* DOLPHIN, get of your stupid animal loving high ******* horse and realise, people more than animals. Animals do not have feelings, animals do not have rights, animals are ours to do with what we please. What is your stupid narcisistic problem.

Right so it's OK to treat an animal inhumanly then kill it humanly, but the other way round is just so not OK. Stop being such a hypocrite.
The thing is, nobody in Japan even buys whale meat. The only way that the demand is created for the supply of whale meat is through government contracts in providing it in schools and the like, and even then kids won't often eat it.

It's basically a pointless industry that's heavily subsidised by the government under the pretence of supporting a "traditional" [I'll come on to that later] industry, but the government would look weak domestically if it capitulated to demands to cut it's annual quota or to cease whaling altogether. Aside from political fallout, I can't see why the government really wants to keep it going. It really damages Japan's reputation abroad, and isn't even part of Japanese heritage; various Japanese eras have seen the occasional uptake of whaling as a means to keep populations alive in times of hardship, the most recent time being World War II, but it's got no historical or cultural imperative beyond it being employed for the survival of Japan.

And who gave animals to us? Let me guess, God?

Animals do have rights, I think you'll find. You can't legally be cruel to them, you can't legally kill a wild animal in many jurisdictions without a specialist licence, many species are protected as endangered and can't even be moved, etc. Rights are a human concept applied to the world, and if we choose to give animals rights, then they have them.

As for animals not having feelings, endless studies of primates in Africa and Indonesia beg to differ.

Regardless, we do not have the right to run rampant in the natural world, pillaging and destroying everything we see for the sake of profit, thinly disguised as survival.
The UK kills humans in the middle east who have also been proven to be fairly intelligent. Where is your rage against them? Japan certainly doesn't kill any humans in random wars for fun like we or the US does. Not that I agree with whaling or dolphin killing but I certainly don't hate Japan for it.

I'm sure there is pizza in Japan. I'm sure it's very nice. That's why I included it. :cyber:
