Pyramids to be destroyed?

http://www.news.com.au/travel/egypt-tourism-slump-blamed-on-islamist-rule/story-e6frfq7r-1226542463908

I might be wrong but I'm thinking that if no-one bothers visiting there anymore, this will give the Islamist occupants (and Egypt belongs to the world not just to Arabs) the reason (and not only that reason) they need to wipe them off the map. I'll say it again: I might be wrong.

Wow, tourism went from $12bn to $8.8bn halfway through the recession! Clearly there is no tourism left in Egypt!

They wouldn't even think about it. Dare they risk the unstoppable wrath of a UN condemnation?!?
As dumb as they are, they wouldn't want to stop tourism and jobs to THAT extent.
I'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion from that article. I think you're definitely wrong.

Muslims have ruled that land for 1400 years and nothing has happened, and that was when the rulers were following Islam closely. Nothing will happen to them now.

Let's talk about modern history, not the age of empires and fiefdoms where there was no centralised government or radical Islamisation of large sections of the populace. Previous governments and regimes which have controlled Egypt have been secular and/or non-Islamist (whether they were British or Arab). The current regime is an Islamist regime and whilst there is no sign that they wish to destroy the pyramids, it would be foolish to be complacent as it wouldn't be the first time which Islamists have destroyed pre-Islamic history (e.g. the Buddhas of Bamiyan).
And those who voted for these nutters thought that an Egypt under increased Islamist influence would become a prosperous one.

They genuinely believe that Allah will be pleased and will somehow miraculously bless the Egypt, even after they have successfully destroyed one the major sectors of income.

Do you think that the volume of destruction which Islamists have caused in this manner has decreased as time has gone by? This should play a key role in considering the likelihood of such an event taking place as described in the original post.

The Muslim Brotherhood aren't the threat to the Pyramids (they aren't stupid or zealous enough) its the fact they are a platform for Salafi's, Jihadists and others to exist once again.

I remember reading about how hundreds of salafi's and Shari'ah fanatics had been pardoned from jail/execution since Morsi has come in to power, now that there isn't a non-islamist party keeping a lid on them.

With the MB in power, this will only create a more conservative/salafi atmosphere in the country, and the young population of egypt is more, well, extremist than ever. The pyramids are viewed as Pagan landmarks (anything that isn't Islamic, Christian or Jewish is classed as Pagan in Islam, basically) and a sight of pagan worship ... to be torn down.

Think of the statues in Afghanistan

The tombs in Libya, the statues, castles and graves of important islamic figures in Syria or Mali ...

How do you know they're British?
Well, if they do destroy it, hope I get a plane ticket invitation to take part in the fun.

In all honesty though, they won't, especially due to tourism revenue it brings. Egyptians economy is priority and everyone knows this regardless of their beliefs.

Most members are, just looking at their locations, including the one above me, the impecable english, english phrases etc etc Even if they aren't, a lot seem to be from "Hollandistan" or other western european countries.

Edit: Nationality isn't even the case here.

Why aren't you banned from this forum?

Or haven't you expressed your sociopathic desire to kill anyone who isn't a fanatical Sunni eager to turn the clock back a millenium and a half ...

And I found it through here http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Islamic_Awakening

Also, you spend an awful amount of time on the many forums you are on, shouldn't you be praying, giving daw'ah, beating your wife and going to every anti-israel rally in existance whilst trying to stay out of debt caused by your porn addiction?

You seem to imply that forum = the opinion of most Muslims, which is absurd. That's like me saying stormfront is the opinion of most non Muslim white people...

Not necessarily as I don't get much time, I just have a lot of accounts. The posts I make are far and few between.
