Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations

Is it worth doing a course in Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations? What are the job prospects afterwards? Reason I ask is that Durham didn't have any space on the History course, so offered me a place on that one instead - just wondering if I should look at it!
You need to be really certain that the subject matter and 'era focus' of the degree actually interests you. Don't just think that it being 'Durham' will make it all okay. If yuo don't enjoy the course you are studying, it'll be a miserable three years wherever you are.

History (all varieties) is not a vocational course. It doesnt train you to do a specific job. Like most Arts/Humanities degrees it 'trains your brain' to think at a higher level, form cohesive arguments, write clearly. If you look at these pages you'll see the VERY wide range of careers/jobs done by people with a History degree - https://www.kent.ac.uk/careers/history.htm and http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/careers/wiki/History_-_using_your_degree
