Do universities look in depth to your GCSE's

I'll elaborate: do universities look to see if you did foundation or higher in your GCSE's. I used to do foundation, but after showing passion and effort into work I was moved up in the higher sets. I ponder though (because my school changes their minds all the time) if I were to do a foundation but still got a C on it, would the higher universities (like Glasgow, or Lancaster) look in depth to what exam papers/tier I did. Any advice would help, starting my final year In September and then off to college, so in want to be prepared and sort out my GCSE's now. Thanks!

Hi
They mainly look at your A levels and UCAS points, the only ones I think look at your GCSE`S are Cambridge and Oxford (top unis basically)
