Why doesn't glyoxal show Fehling's solution test? Also, why don't aromatic aldehydes not show Fehling's solution test?
Benzene ring causes an inductive effect on the carbonyl carbon (the CHO group) so essentially it's being held with greater force, therefore cannot be oxidised as readily
