I am competitive for Oxford?

Hi.

I’ve taken my GCSEs, my grades are:

Art B
English Language A*
English Literature A
I.T Core A*
I.T Option A*
Mathematics C
Religious Education A*
Science Additional A
Spanish B

And here are my predicted results for A2: (I haven't chosen which subject to drop)

Biology A*
English Language A*
English Literature A
ICT A*

I would really like to study Law at Oxford University. I know that GCSE grades a very important to Oxford, so would a C in maths hold me back? When it was exam time I unfortunately suffered a death of someone close to me in my family. That was why my grade in maths dropped down. I was predicted a B.

I've done four AS Levels, I'm thinking of dropping English Literature because I'm barely getting As, and I don't want to risk not having the entry criteria to apply to Oxford.

Do you think that I would be competitive?

-Thank you!

The C in maths probably isn't a big issue in itself. Your GCSE profile as a whole is however fairly weak compared to many applicants. If I was to ignore the mitigating circumstances I would say you would definitely want to be getting good LNAT marks to secure an interview. How much the mitigating circs. change this I cannot say but definitely request that your referee mention them in your reference.
