How do you do a wedge and dash diagram for pent-1-ene? the molecular formula is C5H10. I am so unsure on how to do the diagram because it is a alkene with a double bond.

The first two carbon atoms are planar.

Centre the structure on carbon #3 in the chain and draw four tetrahedral bonds from it.

Then attach two hydrogen atoms, one ethenyl group and one ethyl group.


Your drawing looks weird. Cannot imagine that it has to be look in that way. Or is it just a rugged sketch?

@ Kallisto, that was just a sketch but the drawing you attached shows the structural diagram but we need the wedge and dash diagram which is drawn quite differently.
