Astrophysics help

guys and girls quick question, for astrophysics do you have to know the proper proper lifecycle of a star. I have never ever seen a question on the processes like fusion ect. There’s no mention of it in the spec. It just says you need to know defining properties and just specific events in the sequences like gamma ray bursts due to collapsing stars. I don’t want to learn about Core and Shell burning sequences when it’s not even on the spec and there’s no past paper questions on it either.
